Ancestor Figure
A large, 10.5kg painted and gilded, cast copper alloy statue of a Chinese ancestor figure, seated with hands on knees. The statue was acquired by the Oriental Museum when they acquired the Yetts collection in 1956. The statue was dirty, and corrosion was bubbling underneath the paint, threatening to push it off. As there was a plan for the statue to go on display, a custom stand that could support the weight of the object also had to be created.
